Caitlin Cloninger

I examine the notion of home, within the intimacy of our own minds versus our external incarnations of centrality. To me, light and shadow have a way of literally, and figuratively, illuminating our conception of a space. I capture the delicate moments containing the interplay of those elements. 

We engage with the idea of home to find asylum both outside and inside our bodies; the feeling of comfort is visceral. My work provides a lens into understanding the disparate concepts of intimate internal space versus communal external space and how those can mutate interchangeably. 

Caitlin is photographer based out of East Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee in 2013. She was a recent artist-in-residence at Azule in Hot Springs, North Carolina.
