Are you new to call for entries?
Don’t worry, we’re here to explain a little bit about them as you start your art career!
Art call for entries, also known as art calls or art competitions, are announcements made by galleries, museums, art organizations, or other institutions inviting artists to submit their work for consideration for an exhibition or other artistic opportunity.
These calls can vary widely in terms of scope and focus, and may be open to artists of all levels of experience and all mediums, or may be restricted to specific themes, mediums, or geographic regions. Artists are typically asked to submit a digital portfolio of their work, along with an application fee and other supporting materials such as artist statements, resumes, or bios.
Once the submission deadline has passed, a selection committee or jury reviews the submissions and selects the artists whose work will be included in the exhibition or other opportunities. Selected artists may be notified via email, phone, or mail.
Calls can be an excellent way for artists to gain exposure, build their portfolios, and connect with other artists and arts professionals. By participating in these opportunities, artists can expand their network and reach a wider audience for their work. Additionally, artists may receive prizes, awards, or other forms of recognition, which can help them to advance their careers and achieve their artistic goals.
As you’re searching you may find them under various titles: Call for Submission, Call for Art, Call for Entry, etc. Be sure to read their descriptions to make sure you are submitting to the correct things for you!
